QUEEN'S CHARITY EVENT

By order of Her Royal Majesty Queen Beth, Salamander's First Annual Slave Auction will be held this July, a midsummer event to help with the on-going funding desperately needed to run the ‘King Horatio Foundlings Home'. As most of us know this orphanage is committed to the goal that no Salamander child is without a home.  

The auction will include all those charitable citizens of Salamander willing to ‘ auction themselves as a slave for a day or evening to the highest bidder' . All proceeds of the auction will go directly to the foundlings' home and the dedicated monks who run it.

++++++++++++++++++++ June 16th ++++++++++++++++++++ The aged towne lamp-lighter hobbled down Main Street, a burning torch in one arthritic hand and a small ladder tucked expertly under his free arm. He remarked in a raspy mutter to himself, ‘the Marketplace is unusually quiet for a summer’s eve’ and continued on his deliberate and steady pace. He willed his aching feet to continue their trek, appeasing them in his mind with the promise of his favorite easy chair by the crackling fire and a tall mug of spiced cider to relax his protesting muscles, muttering again to himself, ‘Just one more to light, just one more’. Perched before his final lamp, he tipped the ladder on the pole and started his slow ascent when he halted abruptly on the first two rungs, his face twisted in an ironic expression as he let the peculiar sound of ‘chanting’ rising from the ground dance precariously in his ears. He winced his day warn eyes toward the manhole in the street, where the chanting continued. There were only sewers down there, he was sure of it…. Wasn’t there? ++++++++++++++++++++ March 8th ++++++++++++++++++++ The last sound emitted from the caravan driver was a blood choked gurgle, the last movement was a desperate yet futile tug on the ornate arrow protruding through his Adam’s apple and out the nape of his neck, the last look was of his executioners as they galloped away toward the north wall of Salamander. ++++++++++++++++++++ January 7th ++++++++++++++++++++ There have been numerous shopkeeper and patron sightings in the marketplace in the past week of a dragonet no bigger than the size of a miniature poodle. Lady Dragoness recalled her incident as, “He buzzed right by my nose as I stepped out of the infirmary Saturday afternoon. He’s a cute little fellow but the poor little thing looks lost and could probably use a good meal or even better a good home.” ++++++++++++++++++++ November 22nd ++++++++++++++++++++ The scent of gunpowder lingered in the air of Salamander’s coastline from the evening past, a portent of something much more sinister to come. Closer observation of the shoreline revealed a midshipman, of the vessel H.M.S. Salamander, his battered body beached half in and half out of the waterline as waves crashed mercilessly against him. The sailor’s thoughts and mutters were a muddled version of what may have befallen him, his crew mates, and the ship, he stuttered out all he could, "attacked….attacked…Phantom Ship” and then he trailed off to his eternal rest. ++++++++++++++++++++ November 13th ++++++++++++++++++++ A skull was found by one of the gardeners in the Queen's Rose Garden, dug up by one of the Queen's prize cocker spaniels from what appeared to be a fresh grave. Any one with information or a missing persons query should report immediately to the authorities. ++++++++++++++++++++ November 9th ++++++++++++++++++++ A pair of Gnomes were seen lurking around the Tavern. A male and a female of rather odd scent. They disappeared soon afterwards behind the Tavern and haven't been seen again. Beware, as these two seemed menacing. ++++++++++++++++++++ November 5th ++++++++++++++++++++ A strange old woman has been spotted in the vicinity of the Dragon Springs. The crones coloring is unusable, green hair striped with brown and glowing silver eyes. Often the laughter and voices of young children is heard near her, but nobody has yet seen their source.
